This may be one of the most emotional posts I ever write here on this site. I write this post with tears streaming down my face. I just packed up my two amazing kids and dog in the van and the wife just headed out to take them to her parents house in Georgia for the next month. As I shared here a few weeks ago, my wife Katherine & I are leaving on a missions trip Monday morning.
I know that we are doing what we are supposed to by taking this missions trip. We have worked so hard to prepare, but never once did I think how difficult it would be to say goodbye to your babies for a month knowing you will be thousands of miles away, in totally different parts of the world with very minimal ways of communication.
I’m hoping that through technology like Skype, Facebook chat, and Google Hangouts to at least be able to talk to them and see them some while on our trip. Of course, that is all dependent upon us having some sort of internet connection.
What does this mean for my business while I am gone?
Well, with us being out of the country means my cell phone will be shut off. International rates are astronomical and would cost entirely too much to call clients while I am gone. By now, most of my clients are aware of me being gone, and know to contact by email any emergencies. If and when I get a connection, I will try to respond to those in need. If you are inquiring about hiring me to speak, consult, or build a website, I will be returning all those calls starting November 19th.
I know this is a long time for everyone to have to wait for responses, and for those of you who know me, have worked with me in the past, you know I’m almost always available. This will definitely be a test for me to be unplugged for the next month.
For those of you who may wonder where I’m going, or want to follow along with our trip, I hope to update our missions site internet permitting. Or, you can visit http://sendustosouthafrica.com.
See you all in a month!
