Just a knee jerk reaction here, but why not have a QR code, or stickybits code? Making the customer work too hard. If scanning is available perhaps manual input has become too much to ask.

Actually Colin, I would disagree with you. The percentage of consumers with a smart phone and knowledge of how they work in comparison to those who have a facebook or twitter account is minimal. I think doing just that would be much less effective.
