As some of you may have already heard, yesterday I made the big switch on my Twitter account. I did this because my actual name had become available on Twitter. However, one thing I didn’t want to have happen when I changed names was to have to start all over. See, I’ve had my main Twitter account since 2008 and have built quite a large following there over the past several years.
So, I had to take a few extra steps to make this happen & I thought I’d make a simple tutorial to help others who might want to be changing their username and not want to start over. Here’s the tutorial:
One thing I forgot to mention during the tutorial that I feel is also pretty important. Once you have made the switches and have the new account active, I think another good thing to do would be to edit the profile on the secondary account letting people know that this is no longer your primary account and where you will be tweeting from for now on. You can see what I wrote in my profile above.
